Located in the bustling heart of Sydney, The Meat & Wine Co Circular Quay delivers a sophisticated dining experience, blending premium steaks with stunning surroundings. COOOP was entrusted with transforming the space into an African-inspired restaurant, creating an environment that allows guests to connect both visually and emotionally.
The client’s brief was simple:
“I want to take people on an African Safari in the middle of Sydney’s CBD”.
This design demonstrates that hospitality is about more than just visual appeal—it’s about engaging emotions and senses. The guiding philosophy of ‘form follows feeling’ shapes every design choice, ensuring a deeper connection between guests and the space. At The Meat & Wine Co. Safari, each visit is a journey through taste, culture, and design, where tradition seamlessly blends with modernity.
Featuring Wilsonart® HPL in Manhattan Grey on the wine racks and waiter’s tables, the restaurant’s design uniquely balances functionality with sensory engagement.
Heated booth seating ensures comfort, while a cut-out in the center of the dining table allows staff to interact with and serve guests individually. This thoughtful feature prevents utensils from falling and encourages social interaction. Decorated clay walls, reimagined as soft, upholstered surfaces, add a tactile element, while the subtle scent of petrichor and the sounds of African poetry further enhance the multi-sensory experience for guests.
