Decorative Design Panels and Surface Technology

Sibu Design develops high-performance decorative surfaces with one defining goal: to create unforgettable ambient spaces.

Through the specialised art of technical lamination, multiple high-grade materials are meticulously brought together in layers to produce flexible interior sheets that deliver texture, intricate light play, and distinctive aesthetic character. To ensure your projects always align with emerging international trends, Sibu design continuously evolves its collection, developing and manufacturing more than 50 new designs each year.

Every single design sheet is manufactured 100% in Austria under rigid Austrian quality controls, ensuring long-lasting material performance, premium durability, and a consistent finish from batch to batch.

Ideal Applications and Key Benefits of SIBU Design

Sibu decorative panels are engineered to enhance high-impact interior environments where surface finish, premium atmosphere, and material detail matter most.

They are ideally suited for feature walls, column facings, shopfitting, and fashion displays across retail, commercial, residential, and hospitality environments.

Because they are exceptionally lightweight and easy to handle compared to traditional timber or heavy metals, they can be efficiently specified for vertical walls, fine furniture cladding, and ceiling panel systems.

(Please note: Due to the nature of laminated design sheets, the range is strictly unsuitable for horizontal benchtops, countertops, flooring, wet areas, or exterior building envelopes).

Design Versatility Across Colours and Finishes

With more than 150 designs to choose from, the SIBU Design range gives you plenty of flexibility. Many colours are available in different surface finishes, such as matte, gloss, brushed, mirror and textured options.

Many core colours are available across completely different surface styles, allowing designers to select between matte, high-gloss, brushed, mirror, and deeply textured variants. This structural variety makes it simple to mix, match, and pair different visual styles while maintaining a cohesive colour story. Explore our nine specialised product lines below:

Professional Installation and Substrate Processing

Achieving a flawless finish depends on following strict processing rules based on the product’s specific backing style:

Self-Adhesive (SA) Backing

A fast peel-and-stick application method. The backing cover must be removed step-by-step, pressing firmly with a medium-hard rubber roller (approximately 170mm wide) to eliminate air pockets. Final adhesion is reached after 24 hours at room temperature.

Non-Adhesive (NA) Backing

Intended for wet bonding using SibuKLE D22HV dispersion adhesive on absorbent substrates (wood, plywood, chipboard, or plasterboard). Alternatively, panels can be mechanically pressed using standard PVA or PUR adhesives to create factory-style composite joinery. Note: SibuKLE D22HV is entirely unsuitable for non-absorbent surfaces like tiles, plastics, metals, or glass.

Critical Installation Notes

  1. The underlying substrate must be completely dry, flat, and free of dust, dirt, grease, wax, and silicone.
  2. The ideal processing and installation temperature is strictly between +10°C and +30°C.
  3. Panels must be fully acclimatised to room temperature before application.
  4. Thermal Expansion: A 2–3mm expansion joint must be left at all sheet edges. Sibu panels expand approximately 0.7mm per metre for every 10°C increase in temperature.
  5. Sheets must be processed within 18 months of manufacture (and within 3–6 months for PUR/PVA pre-treated options).
  6. Every panel includes a protective film – do not remove this film until installation is completely finished.

Featuring harmonious colours and unique designs, STRUCTURE-LINE panels transform any surface into a standout feature with striking three-dimensional effects. From rattan and ocean to concrete looks, each panel delivers a distinctive visual and tactile experience.

A versatile range of decorative surfaces spanning metallic, brushed and vintage finishes alongside cement, wood and stone looks. Ultra-modern designs sit alongside timeless classics, available across a wide range of colours.

Polychrome surfaces, brilliant mirrors and brushed designs in a wide range of colours, with particular suitability for display and shopfront applications.

Mirror surfaces in a mosaic format that are highly flexible and can be applied over curved surfaces with ease. A go-to option for display and decorative fit-outs.

A contemporary range offering a diverse selection of textile surfaces. The combination of tactile textures, structured patterns and colour creates a rich, multi-sensory finish.

All LEATHER-LINE products are vegan, with options ranging from fine leather grains and decorative stitching through to exotic reptile finishes that are virtually indistinguishable from real leather.

Lightweight, sustainable decorative panels that make covering large wall surfaces quick and straightforward. FSC-certified and self-adhesive, they bond to all substrates without the need for expansion joints.

High-gloss, scratch-resistant panels with striking designs that give the appearance of real glass, including a genuine depth effect. Low in weight and with a significantly reduced risk of breakage, SIBUGLAS suits a broad range of applications.

Decorative panels combining effective sound absorption with stylish mirror, brushed and exclusive design surfaces. With 25% sound absorption, SIBU’s acoustic wall panels deliver a meaningful improvement to room acoustics while making a strong visual impact.

Material Maintenance & Cleaning Guide

To ensure your Sibu decorative panels maintain their factory finish, clean according to your specific product line:

DECO-LINE, STRUCTURE-LINE, SibuGLAS, & PUNCH-LINE

For light dust, wipe gently with a soft dry cloth. For heavier dirt, apply a standard plastic or window cleaner to the cloth first—never spray liquids directly onto the panel face.

LEATHER-LINE

Clean gently using standard liquid soap and wipe away immediately with a damp cloth.

Scratch Repair

Minor surface scratches and scuffs on SibuGLAS or acrylic finishes can be buffed out using Sibu’s official polishing kit (comprising paste, specialised sponge, and cloth).

Prohibited Substances

Never use abrasive cleaners, aggressive solvent cleaners, or pure alcohol on any product line, as this will permanently damage the surface laminate.
